Local mobile mechanic

The client, a local mechanic, approached us in September 2021 and during our initial discovery call, explained how he was looking to leave his job and start out on his own. He had a friend make him a website, and he wanted to specialise in offering a single mechanical service, clutch repair.

Based on an average transaction value of around £550, we decided that 3 confirmed jobs per week would be the target, and with an average conversion rate from lead to sale of around 70%, we aimed at roughly one enquiry per day.

Implementation

The campaign was split out into 4, with Clutch Repair & Clutch Replacement separated and specialist Van ad groups in each. This allowed us to be more specific in our messaging, ensuring the smoothest possible user journey from search term through to conversion.

It became apparent that the female demographic was particularly receptive to the service offering, and delivered a conversion rate of 23.5% compared to 20% in the male and unknown demographics. To maximise this, a positive bid adjustment was introduced.

As the service offering is mobile and is offered across various towns/cities, location-based dynamic keyword insertion was added, and pinned into headline position 1. This saw an increase in CTR from 6.74% to 8.31%.

Results

The new account hit the ground running almost immediately. In the first month, we delivered 118 enquiries, more than 3x the target leads we had agreed with the client, and in its first full 10 months, the account delivered 1,011 enquiries (either phone calls or website form submissions) at an average cost per lead of just £6.51.

As we know, the client says he has an average conversion rate from lead to sale of around 70% and an average cost per sale of around £550, which means a realistic sales potential, in the first month of over £35,000.

Due to the new and increased demand, attributed solely to the campaign, the client has transitioned from a sole trader to a business that has employed 3 new mechanics in its first year.
